Getting a good result
What to send
- The face is the whole job. Front-on, well lit, eyes visible. A dark or blurry photo comes back as somebody who looks a bit like you.
- Name the light. “low sun behind me”, “neon at night”, “storm light” — lighting does more for this than the costume does.
- Don't ask for a character by name. Describe the costume you want instead. You get something that is yours rather than an imitation, and it avoids somebody else's trademark.

Will it still look like me?
The face is worked from your photo and usually survives well. Send one that is front-on and well lit — that is the single thing that decides it.
Can I ask for a specific comic character?
You can ask, but it is a bad idea. Costumes, emblems and character names belong to their publishers, and a picture built on one is not yours to use. Describe the look you want instead and you get something you actually own.
Full body or just a portrait?
Either. Say which — “mid-flight, full body” and “shoulders up, looking at the camera” are two very different pictures.
What do I get back?
